HD-12 August 18 Special Election Endorsement
The housing shortage is a critical issue currently facing the citizens of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, and Pennsylvania. We believe the solution to this crisis involves providing abundant and affordable housing for all. We fight for more housing because we want to reduce poverty, end homelessness, eliminate racial segregation, create jobs, and stop climate change, and we believe elected officials at every level play an important role in solving this crisis.
We have endorsed candidates for the upcoming August 18th special election after evaluating their positions and responses to our Candidate Questionnaire.
All responses are published here, and informed our official endorsement of Brandon Dukes for House District 12.
Pro-Housing Pittsburgh is proud to endorse Brandon Dukes in the HD-12 special election taking place on August 18th.
Dukes has shown a deep understanding of the root causes of the housing crisis. He believes that “to keep housing affordable for people and families in a variety of circumstances, we need to make housing easier to build and make more varied types of housing accessible.”
He supports a land value tax, regular property reassessments, transit-oriented development, and zoning reform as ways to keep his growing district—and all of Pennsylvania—affordable for everyone. He will be an excellent voice for abundant and affordable housing across the state.
House District 12 needs a representative like Brandon in Harrisburg. Interested in getting involved? Sign up to phone bank or canvass here.
