2026 Midterm Endorsements
The housing shortage is a critical issue currently facing the citizens of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, and Pennsylvania. We believe the solution to this crisis involves providing abundant and affordable housing for all. We fight for more housing because we want to reduce poverty, end homelessness, eliminate racial segregation, create jobs, and stop climate change, and we believe elected officials at every level play an important role in solving this crisis.
On November 3rd, 2026, midterm elections will take place across the country, including statewide elections in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In order to better inform the body politic on candidate views on housing, we sent questionnaires to every state legislative candidate running for office in Allegheny County.
We received answers from the following candidates: Mandy Steele (HD-33), Dylan Altemara (HD-39), Jon Lloyd (HD-40), James Julius (HD-45), and Wayne Fontana (SD-42). Their responses to our Candidate Questionnaire informed our official endorsement of these candidates (among others) for the 2026 cycle.
We also voted to carry forward our special election endorsements from earlier this year - those are accessible here and here.
Our endorsements are as follows:
These candidates are running to represent electorates ranging from Downtown, to the Mon Valley, to rural Butler County, yet all of them are committed to fighting for affordable, abundant housing across the Greater Pittsburgh area. We are proud to offer our endorsement to this slate and look forward to seeing them succeed.
As always, housing affordability is on the ballot this November, and a YIMBY sweep will take the fight for affordable housing to Harrisburg like never before. Get out, get involved, and make your voice heard!
